How to Clean Washing Machine?

Do you think your washing machine is self-cleaning? Actually, there are a buildup of grime, mold, leftover detergent, and mineral deposits from hard water.

 

Cleaning washing machine means your clothes get dirt-free more effectively. Although your washer is using detergent every time you run a load, it’s not cleaning itself. You’d better give it a deep clean. 

 

And how to clean your washing machine?

 

1st, Add Water & Bleach

Fill the drum of washer with hot water, stopping it before it agitates. Use the hottest temperature setting on your machine.

Then, add a quart of bleach.

 

2nd, Run a Wash & Spin Cycle

Let the washer run its longest wash and spin cycle so that it goes through a complete rinse and drain. Make sure the bleach is completely removed before the next step. 

 

3rd, Clean the Washing Tub

After bleach works, you can start to clean the inside and outside. And please prepare your DIY cleaner and some mini brushes before your cleaning. There might be some hard-to-clean spots around the lid and under the rim of the tub. The dispensers for fabric softener or soap, the inside of the door, and around the door opening, they are especially, you can focus on them.

 

4th, Add Water & White Vinegar & Baking Soda

Add the vinegar to the detergent dispenser. Set the washing machine to the hot cycle with hot water and let soak first. Then run it again. This way can help removing greasy build-ups and hard water minerals. And it is to wash away any traces of bleach or particle remnants.

While soaking, you can clean the removable parts, and outside of the machine.

 

Note: Never mix bleach and vinegar.

 

5th, Clean Seals & Door

After last cycle completed, use a microfiber cloth to wipe the washer door opening, gasket, and seals, which help removing mold residue.

 

6th, Swipe

Swipe the whole washing machine with microfiber cloth or paper towel, and prop the lid open, it is to make sure drying thoroughly.

 

Last but not least, maintain your washing machine in regular.

Keep the door open to ensure that the interior dries thoroughly if washer not use.

After washing, take out the cloth promptly. Do not leave them in the washer a long time.

Keep the top surfaces free of lint and detergent.

Check the gasket to be sure no small items regularly.
